Partially constructed violin found in a garage
Hi CB fiddle group. Thought someone on here might find this interesting..... A coworker of mine's neighbor gave this to him. He thought since I build CBGs I might be able to finish this. It's got two books with it. All the parts of the violin appear to be together. The neck/scroll has already been carved, the sides have been bent around a handmade plywood mold. The top and bottom of the body are partial cut/carved out. I would really like to see this completed, but it feels way out of my league at this point. I'm a box and a 1x2 CBG buildin kinda guy and I know I'll need guidance with this. Rand Moore suggested talking to Diane in Chicago about this, as she seems to know a right bit about fiddles and such. I found this group when I looked her up on the Nation and figured it would be a good place to post about this half finished violin rescued from the scrapheap. Whoever it was has made a good start, but there is still a bit of work to go.
See if you can check this book out from your local library - I referred to it lots when I built my latest cb fiddle. I'm about to try a backpacker fiddle next from scratch.

It is not out of your league - just take your time and don't rush. I had to let some ideas sit in my head for days before I was ready to go to the next step.
