The Carolinas Box Guitar Club meeting #18 was held on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 11:00am at Taxco Mexican Grill [Mint Hill location], 7106 Brighton Park Dr., Mint Hill, NC across the parking lot from the Harris Teeter.  We will continue having a monthly meeting on the first Saturday of each month.

John, who I met at the Greenville, SC CBG Festival last week, drove up from Greenville to join us.

We had 7 guys attending.  Bill brought his beautifully done "Bed Pan" 3-string slide guitar.  It sounds very nice and bluesy with the two piezo pickups.

Jack did an excellent job with his "Wine Box/License Plate" 3-string slide guitar.  He stripped the white box and stained it.  It too sounds very nice and bluesy with a resonator effect from his piezo pickup and suspended license plate.

We had a lot of discussion the whole 3-1/2 hours.  I think we answered everyone building issues and everyone left with something to practice.

Steve Chapman a six-string guitar player and member of the Charlotte Blues Jam Group played his six-string hollow body guitar a lot for us.  He showed us his song book and described how he used it.  He answered a lot of questions from everyone.

Steve suggested leaving a guitar by your TV chair for practice during commercials.

Steve also suggested playing along with your favorite songs or with backing tracks as practice for playing with others.

We discussed transposing six-string notes into 3-string music that we can play.  This is handy to transpose a solo.  Attached find a 6-string standard tuning and 3-string GDG tuning note chart for reference in transposing music notated for 6-string.  Put this in your new Song Book.  Guitar_CBG%20compare.txt.pdf
