option two,
2 - 7" speakers, 4 ohm,
option three,
2 - 6" speakers 2ohm,
or a combination of all the above, thanks for any advice,
whatever you choose you need to match amp impedance with speakers. If you put speakers in series, the impedances add up so two 4 ohms speakers becomes 8 ohms whcih should still work OK but if you put them in parallel the impedances are halved so two 4 ohms beomes 2 ohms which might tend to overload the amp and blow the ouptu stage. (it's almost a short circuit) You could put two 2 ohms in series which gives you 4 ohms.
i remember those crates , what a great job you did on that !! my buddy got one used , he ran a bass thru it and boy did that sound awful . it was a guitar amp ...
i really liked the way it looked , and i always wondered if they got those chassis surplus or what . either way it seemed like a shortcut , then they named the company after it to savvy that up and it stuck . crazy cool crate copy . i seem to remember the front panel had an unusual color scheme and a large set of knobs . either way i wanted that thing .
i have read that a lot of the tone in a guitar amp comes from using a proper guitar speaker , they have small cones or coils , something is different . at some point i want to try and swap a few 6'' speakers in a small cab , and video tape it , kind of a pepsi challenge and see . i have a bunch of 6' speakers and a few that came out of guitar amps so eventually . they do sell a cheap jensen , 6 made for guitar . i think its around 20 bux though .

the reviews claim these things blow the stock fenders out the water , fantastic reviews , now if i could get my hands on all the stock speakers they replaced !
petey,, the amazon review's are good for the jensen, for the money you cant go wrong,
the 12" speaker i've bought is out of a revolving speaker set up, sort of like a reverb sound, lot's of big name guitar player's have used them, pink floyd, srv, etc, so it should be ok, obviously i'm not making this amp set up a revolving one, but i'm looking into making a few experiment's with some of the small speaker's i've got,
the revolving speaker set up most people want is "the leslie cabinet" there's one for sale on uk ebay, but it's too expensive for me, so i'll have a go at making my own cheap version,
i got one here i slaped together out of an old organ . i just put panels on it (boxed it up) with large sound holes , used some patio door screen for the holes , then uilt a switch box for the ac . there is 2 motors , hi and lo . it does "pop" a lil thru the audio when you do one certain click , i think its "gear down" it pops .
i did research it , there is a relay method for silent switching , but ... there are quite a few diy lesiles on yt , as you already know more than likely . there is a really excellent one , and some crazy mini pop can units , a guy with a ceiling fan on a lawn chair too . i should do a lil demo vid of mine sometime . it sounds really cool , except for when it pops ;)
me and my kid were watching PF at pompei the other night , they had 3 on stage there . also that danelectro chicken salad is a killer lil cheepie uni-vibe clone . doing a rehouse on one soon , got a nother in my " metal amp " . thats one of those uder-apreciated fx , rotating speaker , imo .
please share your final product or whatever when yer done !
well, another crazy amp/speaker modder, i'm in good company,
have you any pic's of of your creation, i need all the help i can get,
i had a few really nice picture threads but they are gone (too old) .
you COULD check out my youtube channel , speaking of "crazy" i would sugest watching the "metal amp" one if you have the stomach ...
, they are all way too long though ...
heres a few videos on one page , incase you get paralized and need something to do for a few years :
i got an hd cam now and a good mic set up , working on a new intro , making em shorter , not using a fake chicago accent etc .
petey, could'nt see anything to do with rotating speaker, ?
