Wiring

What type of wire do most use on wiring your CBG ? Gauge ? Insulation ? Shielded ? Searched the forum but did not come up with anything. Thanks

  • I use wire a neighbor gave me when he moved. It looks like speaker wire, 18 gauge, stranded, plastic insulation. But if it didn't work I'd use part of a telephone cord, costs about USA $ 0.50 at Goodwill Store (resale shop).
  • 22 gauge stranded copper wire. Insulated with plastic/teflon. Not shielded. You can shield the wire by twisting the ground wire around the hot wire.
  • just plain 22 or 24 guage stranded wire, im not picky about insulation as long as it has some. theres a lot of people that swear buy shielded but i havent had any noise problems in regular guitars or my cbg. as far as the cloth covered stuff thats a bunch of that over priced mumbojumbo that doesnt do anything.
  • If you're wiring a piezo.....I've used everything from 14ga. stranded copper to telephone station wire (22ga. copper solid).
None of it has been shielded. Right now everything I do is wired with telephone wire and I have had no problems. The piezos from Radio Shack come with 22/24 ga leads on them. Makes sense to me to use that size all the way to the jack.

I aint about mag pups, someone else will have to get you goin there...
