Hi what size box is suggested for building a cbg?

Got my hands on a cigarbox by the size 9 X 7 inches, how about that? (to small?)
Could probably build me my own box but.....   no.

Just got interested in the cigarbox guitar "thing"
I live in sweden and cant find any good swedish resources.

anyone give me a hand?

Havent been able to find a real cigarbox yet in this crappy town, so ive been looking at this old box for some car diagnostic tool i found laying around at work. with some work it might get the right look. or is this forbidden?? i just want to get started building something soon.
Most certainly *not* forbidden. That would make a cooool instrument. One concern might be the thickness of the lid, though. If it's too heavy, you won't get as much resonance (less sound). That being said, though, it's likely to be stiffer and sustain longer, so if you plan on playing it mostly plugged in that could be a plus. Post pics when you're done.

The bottom of the box was damaged, some plywood-like material had been splitting, so i soaked that in water and it just "peeled" of. Size is about 7 x 10 inches.. Because im already replacing the bottom, what thickness do you suggest for that? what material, does plywood do??

That is a really cool box, don't flip it over the logo is too cool, I'm a car nut so old car tool box's are as cool as old cigar box's to me. Good find, and the size sounds good to. Build it and see how it sounds, or send it to me lol.
How thick is the top, if its really thick, and I doubt it is, you can sand and scrape the back side to thin it out some. Also peel off the inside label, that will help some too.
Already ahead of you, peeled of the instruction-sticker but tried to keep it in one piece. got an idea about sticking it to the bottom instead (real tight) so you can kind of see it trough the sound holes when its done.

So whats the overall opinion? Keep the logo or not? Tried to clean the top of with some sponge and some allround cleaning soapy-thingy i found in the kitchen and it actually looks pretty good, maybe ill sand it a bit around the logo.
If it were me, and its not I would leave it as is and make a neck that isn't so clean and shiny either. Gives it the used for years look, lots of mojo. And don't touch the logo!! It makes the box, without it its just a box. But still it's up to you the builder.
Exactly my thinking, too (os if I read have a choice with the neck finish, me woodworking skills considered, hehe)! 'Nuff said: You will do well with that box anyway, but the logo is soooo cool!
Something like this.. Havent really learned this photo editing program yet, but it gives you an idea. Cleaned up the box too.

Yeah. Keep the label. If your lid is 1/4 inch thick or less (sorry, dumb American not fluent with the system of measurement just about everyone else in the world uses) you should be fine sound-wise.

I really like the juxtaposition of beat-up box top with the "elegance" of f-holes.

Build away! Show us more!
Not to be too picky but those are more of a C hole than an F hole, either way good start make it and play it, you wont be disappointed. Also I like the idea of the label on the inside bottom so you can view it, CBG's are meant to be fun right.
Sweeeeeet! Finally found this on the swedish e-bay site. (just the box) ordered the rest of the parts a couple of weeks ago.
