One of my recent CBG constructs is fitted with a piezo pickup and I feed it through my CBGitty amplifier, recently made. However, even with the gain turned up to max I’m not satisfied with the level of “grunge” I’m getting. Would it be possible to take the feed through an effects pedal before my amp? Or am I trying to make a purse from a pigs ear and wanting too much?

  • I have a low end Digitech pedal, rp50, that has a ton of preset effects.  Some settings are corny but the distortion ones work well with a piezo. I think a piezo works better with a preamp, which a pedal effectively functions as.

  • was going to suggest a pedal, has anyone tried a tube screamer with a cbg?

  • Take a look at the Gitty Psyco Knob setup.

It may be just want you're looking for. It can be added inside your guitar if you want or built separately.

    • Thanks Tom. Will it work with a piezo pick up, ‘cos Shane pitches it for neck pick up in his video. I need assurance as I’m in England and I don’t want to incur the extra cost of customs duty only to find it’s not suitable. I like the idea that it can be incorporated into my amp box.

      • Yes, active distortion will work with a piezo. Search Ebay for Artec QDD... you'll find several listings in the UK.
