The Cigar Box Guitar Museum housed inside Speal's Tavern in New Alexandria PA has just expanded the collection by more than 30 instruments.  The free exhibit now features cigar box guitars built by Cigar Box Nation members including Anonymous Pick, Bob Graichen, Adam Holmes, Glenn Kaiser, Glenn Watt, Piht Bull and many more.

In addition to the new guitars, a special memorial item has been placed at the center of the collection:

On the corner of the Speal's Tavern sign is the actual license plate of Dan Sleep, who passed away earlier this year. The plate reads, 'CBG LVR.'

These updated guitars are just one step in several that will be done to update the collection.  Nameplates for each guitar are being created and will be hung soon.  Also, several more antique cigar box guitars will be added to the center wall once they've been photographed and documented for my upcoming book.

The exhibit is free and open during Speal's Tavern regular business hours.  For more information on Speal's Tavern, their live music schedule and hours, please visit www.SpealsTavern.com.

  • Looks like a wondrous blues shack, Shane. Thanks to you and your family for the museum space and commitment. I just need to get my a*s there...  Bet you gig was prodigiously primal. Did someone record it?

  • But is the IC Light cold?  I can't stand looking at epic cigar box guitars with less than cold AF IC Light.  ;)

  • Glad to be in great company ,  awesome touch on the Dan Sleep lic plate .
