Using the cool leftovers...

Often, when you buy a box of cigars, there is some kind of fancy ribbon or cloth that is tied around the bundles of cigars inside the box. Sometimes, they are pretty cool looking and it seems a shame to throw them away. I found a nice cloth tie inside an empty box of La Aurora Preferidos. Has anyone found any use, decorative or otherwise, for these things? I hate to just toss them, since they sometimes have labels or other stuff attached to them.

  • The CBG I'm working on right now is a Padron. They come with wooden pieces to keep the cigars stacked right. I used two of these for pickup bobbins and I'm planning to wrap the wire with the ribbon that was in the box. I'll post a pic when its all said and done. I like the idea of using as much of the box as I can.
  • I too keep the cedar in case I come up on a box that doesnt grab you.I plan to use it as a veneer also.
Last week I was looking around for something to dress up 2 CBG's that I took to the shop to put in stock.I found 2 of those ribbons, tied them both on the 2 CBG's.Took them in on Sat ,by Monday they were both sold.
  • The cedar I hang on my wall in my work shop. Maybe it will keep it smelling nice in there..
  • Tassle hanging from the headstock? Could look cool.

My wife uses the paper-thin sheets of cedar that are sometimes in the boxes for her flower art. She would probably grab any cloth tie I found for the same purpose, lol.
