Hey everybody, hope all are well.

Just wondering if a C.B. Gitty 4 watt speaker can be installed upside down. The way I built my amp, it would be neater, wiring-wise, to install it upside down. I looked around here and elsewhere on the net and found some speakers can be done that way, but not all. Anyone know and mind enlightening me and others who may have the same question?

Thank you in advance,

Ray

If you're talking about rotating the speaker so that the connecting wires are pointing some direction other than down, then realize that the speaker doesn't know if it pointing up or down. Just doesn't matter. Now if you wanted to mount it so the cone faced in instead of out (i.e. magnet out) that would be a problem.

Hi Ray, I can't see a problem either. Speakers are often mounted the a ceiling, face down. However they normally are more effective aimed at the listener. The room surroundings often effect the sound. So a speaker facing a counter top will sound different to one facing a carpeted floor, for instance.

OK, thank you guys! I couldn't see any problem with it either, but then, I am new to this sort of thing. I learned ages ago that it's expensive to be presumptuous

 Thanks again!

believe the direction the cone is pointing, and the angle is of some importens if the cone is a paper one or a rubber mounted cone, cause of vibrations that can rip the speaker paper, in case of angle, thats all.

 Thank you brother.

Just to make sure I understand, if I tilt the speaker, that tilt can cause a rip?

Ray I think you are okay with however you choose to build it. Those small speakers were designed for ruggedness, installed into countless boom boxes and radios. The speaker coil  only moves as much as needed from the given signal. Granted direct sunlight an or water can make the paper brittle but over all it can handle most anything but fingers distorting the cone itself Over time it can get torn but then again it is a reasonably priced item that will be around for years.

Thank all of you for the information! Putting it in upside down will definitely tidy up the wiring harness and make it easier as well Cool!

Thanks again!

Hi a Ray sorry for the late reply did not see it earlyer, the type of speaker on the shown picture ,are in principle for eather horizontal  or vertical placement when placed under a angle the cone vibrates allso under a angle and the wear from the cone will increase not for the better, cose as far as i can see its a all paper ,they are indeed pretty rugged , but if you put the full monty to the speaker, again under a angle other then H or V it can  give a problem in the future , thats all Ray !

Thank you, brother! Appreciate the clarification and info.
