Update on cbn member “ Maddog's “  Wife.

Sadly, on  Nov. 23rd  CBN member, fine builder ,  and friend “Maddog” suffered the loss of his wife “Janet”, after battling her illness since diagnosed in Sept .  As you can imagine, he could use some words of encouragement.   After talking to him, (unless personal and private messages) I think it is best to leave any well wishes here in the comments as not to bombard his email or pm box.  Just leave your comments below, he will then  be able to  read them  as he can , and reply  as / when / if   he can at the time . Maddog is a great builder and a great friend to many on CBN and in the cbg community, and we hope to get him back soon. Too many of us know  the feeling of the loss of a loved one .

Hang in there buddy .  …..R.I.P Janet .

Condolences and prayers brother. Truely sorry for your loss, may God comfort you in your time of sorrow. Peace be with you!

Hello, Patrick.  Kinda and I have been thinking of you.  Good bless.

So sorry to hear of your lo. My sincere condolences.

Guys, I did not know Janet well, but think it would be good to tell you a bit about her and MD.  Pick told me MD okayed this blog.

She and Maddog and family owned a neat steak-house restaurant just a stones throw from the Missouri River.  Very close to the powerful Missouri, which is prone to flooding along that stretch, but their restaurant set close, but just high enough to barely escape the big flood of 11' and some others.   MD and Janet worked very hard, between the restaurant and collecting and selling antiques and crafts, LPGs and CBGs made by MD.  He had the CBG shack right close to the steak house and river.  A cool, cool place.  Patrick, (MD) used to sit and play on the porch and  took a lot of cool pics of gits he had made with the river as a back ground.

MD and Janet were regulars at some big craft and antique shows in the Omaha, Nebraska are.  JunkStock was a main stay for them 2-4 times a year.  MD and Janet got to be friends with Justin Johnson and gees, I can not think of his pretty wife's name.  Nikki!   JJ played some at Junkstock and he and Nikki camped in their old motor home there by the MD CBG shack.

Janet loved to fish.  Catfish especially, I believe.  She would go out in a boat at night after working some times.   I tell you, that river with a strong current and plenty of places to get hung up on rocks and trees would scare me at night.   MD is an old river rat.  He used to commercially net fish the river before regulation changed pretty much ended that.  The last time I looked at Patrick's FB page, there was a photo of Janet fishing.

Patrick and Janet have, 2 sons and a daughter.  The sons are 30ish and teachers and coaches at nearby school systems.  I think the daughter recently moved back close to MD (from down in Arkansas) and that seems a good thing.  Patrick has some grand kids he loves dearly.

Patrick and Jan had a dream to have a country place with timber and a stream.  About this time last year, they had sold the restaurant and would soon buy that country place.  I think there was a lot of work to do.  Patrick recently competed his work shop.

Janet took ill in late summer and left this world around Thanksgiving Day.

Good, Dennis.  I encourage you to take a look at Maddog's photos.  He is in my opinion, one of the top builders.  And that is based on playing his builds too.

Denbo,I can easily picture you in Maddog's old CBG shop sampling his many guitars and sitting by the wood stove.

Man, Denbo.  He does have some great plates.  Advantage there from being in the antique business.   He uses a lot of reclaimed woods and really does not spare expense to making a really good instrument.   One thing of interest, he mostly does not scarf head stocks and does not think scarfing is necessary.

I agree, even though I recently made a scarfing jig and will be scarfing some when the weather warms.  He used a lot of Elmar pickups.  I think Elmar has stopped making them. And he uses a lot of humbuckers.  HIs stuff plays very well and plugged in sound is dynamite.

Dennis, I have seen and heard your builds and would bet the farm that they are good.

I tend to build some good ones and some bad ones.  The bad ones get re-done or junked out.

To me, scarfing is okay to good and more for style points than necessity.  But then again, I have that new scarfing jig!

A great insight and peek into their world  indeed John , Thanks  For that . :-)

Great builder indeed also . I think most of my comments to his  build pics  were  " gimmi dat !"  and   "I want dat !".  lol.

Hi Maddog, sorry to hear of your loss.

Taff

Hey Maddog. I know it's hard but let it out. Yell, scream do what you have to. Don't care about who hears you. just let it out. Any time you feel it let it out. I've lost friends and family as well. I know how hard it is. All I can say is let it out.
