  • I did not realize I could buy real tuners that cheap!

That is what I will do on my next one for sure! Thanks for the answers guys!
  • Unless the eye bolts are free, the bolt washers nuts etc seem to cost as much as a few cheap used tuners. Go get some real tuners you will be much happier with you cbg. You can always take them off and put them on the next one if its that much better.
  • Get real tuners. It's OK to be cheap but the CBG has to work.
  • C.B. Gitty got some cheap tuners save yourself the pain and do it right for $ 8 you'll be happy with them and if your first build is a 3 string you'll have the next set for your next build
  • If ya wanna be cheap, find out Crows way ( search vids for " build a cbg in and hour") or use zither pins. The problem with the zither pins ....... gotta have a pin wrench.

Find a small mom-n-pop music store and ask for used tuners ..... when I find them, I get them 5 bucks for a set of six.

btw - you really don't want the pegs either , been there, done that, won't do it again unless I'm paid ( well) to do so.

  • How are you using the eyebolts? Crow (check "members" for his profile) has developed a fairly nifty system for attaching strings that takes a lot of the hassle out of using that kind of hardware. He's got a diagram in his photos collection and a video outlining the setup process, too.

They're a little more fiddly b/c you're not working with the mechanical advantage of geared tuners, but I've found that with a little practice you can get good results with eyebolts.

    BTW, welcome to the Nation!
