thank's for the schematic eric, work is getting in the way of the build, so not much progress at the moment, i'll keep you posted,
two 10's in parallel is the same as 20uf. both need the full B+ voltage rating if it's for your power supply filter.
That is a fine looking earth bus you have there. i usually use the solid core from mains wiring for mine too. the first connection to it is the earth from the jack, and the last is where it joins to the chassis, usually at one of the power transformer bolts.
the smaller solid core from house lighting wiring, is good for twisting up as heater wires too. the solid core means it stays where you put it.
looking good.
whats the rating on your cathode resistor for the el84?
e
150k 2 watt cathode resistor for the el84,
been told my layout drawing is wrong, look's ok to me, can you see if i've gone wrong with the connection's eric, ?? thank's,
i'll try the heater solid wire, seem's like a good idea,
i had a look the other day and i saw no glaring errors. it's not exactly how i would lay it out, but i didn't see anything wrong. i will have a look over it tonight to double check.
i try for the shortest path between connections, so that sometimes means components don't go on the tag board, but may go from the board to the valve socket itself. the resistor on the grid of the el84 should be soldered directly to the lug on the valve socket.
the 1M resistor at the input usually goes directly across the switching jack, not on the board too.
i'll get back to you.
Love the look of the cabinet. Thanks for your post I am in the early stage of a Zenith Conversion for a Harmonica Amp.
no idea what a zenith is, have you started a thread about it,?
drew up a quick layout just looking at the schematic to see how it compares with yours, and it looks pretty similar to me. your schematic looks right, so just run through the lines and compare.
i usually draw in the valve sockets and pots, as it helps to check everything, and is a good guide with fitting into the chassis.
obviously have not drawn in your mains and earth, switch, fuse(s), HT centre tap etc. If your 6.3v taps don't have a centre tap, don't forget to make an earth ref with a couple of resistors.
did whoever told you it was wrong say why?
