Hi, I'm planning a new build right now, it's a small resonator guitar (21 inch scale) built with a bolt on neck 21 mm thick, bolted on to a one piece body. I was wondering whether I would need to install a truss rod or simply go with a carbon fibre reinforcement rod? The neck will be fretless although I do intend to fret individual notes with my fingers as well as playing with a slide. Any recommendations or thoughts welcome. All the best from Bill. :D

  • Ya might be ok without truss rod I'd build it with a bit of a thicker neck but go for it should be good to go with the short scale.
    • Many thanks Sean.

  • It's Wenge wood, and it will have four regular strings and a shorter octave string, just like a Banjo. The strings will probably be 10,13,16,21,10. (So Earnie Ball custom gauge steel).
  • How many strings? What wood for neck? Lol so many Q's
