So I am pondering donating to charity maybe a raffle my first build. No one ask me so so pressure.

It's a bit sentimental just because it's the first BUT it's by far not perfect.. in fact I don't think fret are even close...  What would you do..

  • All good points... thanks again

  • Totally agree - its YOUR first.

Also if you are planning on giving one to charity in the future, (if it is an illness charity) maybe give it to the people who might have received money for it in a raffle.  It means that they will have something to enjoy and keep their spirits up.

  • I recently have my first build (see pic) to my nephew for his birthday. 1) he likes guitar and plays a little 2) wanted to give it to him. The guitar though, when I gave it to him I shook my head because for being my first one and with nail frets, the thing still plays great, sounds great, and is straight as can be. I also was running out of room, so this freed up space. I agree with Beatlejuice- good things come around and if posterity doesn;t bother you, then heck ya, donate to a good cause instead of letting your guitars stack up and not get enjoyed by someone else but yourself. Good comments from everyone- there is no wrong decision on this one.

  • decided... Gonna keep it.. maybe make a new one... thanks all

    • There ya go !!  Keeping it is ur bestest deal .... I will agree with oily ,, what u want to make is something that sounds and plays good .. if it looks good that is a plus .

and it WILL make hair grow on ur chest ,, cause it will make u feel so good when u see someone pick it up and the suprise and delight that transforms their fces ,,when they first experience it !!!!

  • Hang on to Numero Uno and make them another one. I don't have my first and I kind of wish I had hung onto it.

  • Take the time and build them something nice. You'll be happier and so will the person who winds up with it.

  • I say no. You are acknowledging faults in it. I don't know what u mean by the frets are not close, does it play in tune? Hang it on the wall and keep building. I don't part with instruments I'm not proud of myself
  • Oily "Strat-O'-Nine-Tales" Fool.... Good thoughts.. was also thinking about what I could build that would be functional, fast and look good... Kinda a look in the mirror thing... OK Not funny but better then old, not working and slow.

  • do it..what goes around comes around!...its always good to do good

besides, it's a know remedy to help put some hair on your chest
