Yes! Make it! The 50 or so I've made with cookie tins had a neck 1 1/8" wide with diatonic dulcimer fretting on a 24" scale. I often dampen the tin's vibrations with pieces of foam which cuts down on the volume a bit but gives a more pleasing tone. Here's an example of one
