Ladies and gents. Thinking of my next few builds. For a tenor banjo do y'all prefer a wooden box or a cookie tin (or option 3 is a license plate for the sound board and wood for the back). Question 2. For the license plate concept do I need to include any other sort of cone in the box as a resonator)?

  • You may want to fire that paint stripper can, just to make sure there's absolutely nothing left in it :-).
  • Awesome.  thanks guys...looking around the garage I actually found an old tin can of paint stripper (empty of course).. I may go that route.  Ill post pictures when im done.

  • For a license plate build, the plate IS the resonator. You can get a really nice tenor banjo sound using one of those Danish butter cookie round tins.
  • Tins are great for "banjo-ish" tones...tins being better, with license plates a close second. No cone needed for l-plate.
