I guess you would need to define exactly what "the right kind" is first. One thing I take into consideration is that often, the neck is heavier than the body, causing the neck to drop when played. So you might want to choose one that ties to the headstock as opposed to one that attaches to a strap button on the neck side of the box.

I made some from a couple of old leather belts. It attaches as dan has described.

Music store.

Walmart might have some First Act stuff.

Target might have some First Act stuff.

It's just a guitar strap. If you have one or get one with out a string ..... a pair of new "dress shoe" shoe laces in black, brown, or whatever color you want work well.

Or use a small rope, dog chain ..... whatever you can imagine.

I've been using old electric cords. I've also ended up tying one end to the head stock because they're neck heavy. At the other end of the neck that sticks out the bottom, I put in an eye screw and tie it to that.
I use duct tape or webbing for a lawn chair.
LOL @duct tape!!

Thrift shop. Belts, purse straps, fabric, you name it and for cheap!
I have some of those ratchet straps that busticated in transport.  I think they'll get a second life as guitar straps.
I haven't used them on CBGs yet, but I go to pick-n-pull and get older model seatbelts. My 2 main straps right now are a tan GM and a black Cadillac lol. $8 for both.

this site has some good leads on homemade straps.

How about modified dog leashes, or the same nylon 1" stuff from bulk rolls? Could use or discard the clip, cut button holes, any number of ways. It could range from a simple strap with button holes on each end, or simply screwed to the CBG, to a clip on both ends and an adjustable loop on one end. I have seen rolls at big box stores, military surplus etc.

I spoke to a crafter who makes various things from the nylon straps, including dog leashes and collars and such about coming here and posting an offer to sell some guitar straps. But I guess she didnt share my enthusiasm for the idea.......... I also mentioned crochet straps to my wife. She was not amused.
