I dunno in regards to the snail plate,..however,..one could bolt a bracket arrangement on the au gratin plate,..like a wide "U" shape with holes drilled on the upper legs, then run a threaded rod bridge thru that...there's also these  domed pot lids with handles,..

that could be used like this photoshop mock-up perhaps?

That last one would make a great cover plate, but i think the first 2 might be a bit stiff for a reso, my experience with stainless is unless it's very thin it doesn't really give much effect, i've done 2 with dog bowls and the heavier one is much duller than the lighter one, but at those prices, it won't break the bank to try them

I suppose you have a valid point there..what about these?..aluminum artist mixing pallets,..the two round ones,...they have that indented center section which would work to attach the bridge biscuit to..

hard to say just from the picture, but they do seem a bit lighter gauge, don't get me wrong, some have got great results from doggy bowls etc, but how much it resonates is hard to guess just looking, ideally it is JUST strong enough to take the load, but light enough to ring out

Agreed, and I recently found a source for JUST lids... need to place an order...

Sorry been out of town... was looking at Carey... but...

Ebay for the win.  10 lids, $9, shipped.

Oh: Bought a General Tools #55 Circle cutter... took 3 cuts to adjust it, but it cuts great!  One cut and done!  Paint lid drops right in!

BTW: These circle cutters on a drill press are scary...  even at low speed the thing is just begging you to reach out so it can bite you...

Ah, then we need to put wayfinder on the "no buy" list, lol, sorry my friend...

Ok then,..with all the info shared here,..perhaps this item is a good solution. It's a flat aluminum lid with handle, 6 5/8" diameter. You would need an appropriate box size obviously,..and you could either use the handle as a bridge cover, or remove it. It has a good flange though,..and the price is pretty sweet...John

Oh, and one more thing,..the Basco paint lids are available thru Sears..price is a little more,..but hopefully you'll hear back from Basco per the shiping. If not,..let me know..John.
