Smallest i've used so far is these Flor de Juan Lopez boxes, they measure 5.5" x 8.5" x 1.5", all wood and sound amazing for their size! (-:

I don't. The little square ones become amps. But others have built working guitars even out of those. I guess the smallest usable cigar "box" might be a mini-canjo diddley bow made from one of those metal tubes individual cigars sometimes come in...hmmm...

Probably the little Bolivar that I made.  Not sure how big it was but they're standard size chicken head knobs and a rail pickup.  It's a solid body in the box.

Smallest I've used so far has been this Java Latte box - 6 1/8" X 8 3/8" X 1 1/2". It's pretty loud for a little acoustic only slider.
