I have been experimenting with simple resonators but did not want to sacrifice the straight through neck that most cigar box guitars have.

So far I have experimented with simple tin can lid under the bridge, I have been quite pleased with the results but wounded if other people have had success with other methods ?

There is a link to my blog below which covers some stuff on resonators, plus some pics

  • Darren,

I know you meant "wondered if other people had success," but "wounded" is a lot closer to the truth! ;-)

Check out the CBN Group "How loud can we make it?" There's a ton of documented reso builds and builders there who have come up with ingenious ways of building resos, from the Old Lowe type spun cones, to dog and cat dishes, to license plates, coffee tins, and tuna cans. They can give you really good advice, especially Old Lowe, bairfoot Cajun, Josh Gayou, smokestack guitars, Michael S, and a host of others.
