This youtube cannel will echo what I was doing in my “Getting more out of your fretted three string CBG’ thread. Only a bit more explained and expanded. Aimed more for the beginning player. With enough meat and potatoes to keep advanced players interested as well.

Have eight lesson points planned. With the possibility of more if needed. Each lesson point will have as many videos as it needs. With simple playable examples to help players expand on the lessons. Because the idea is to inspire players to see what they can discover on their own.

Most of the graphics are done for the first cigar box guitar lesson. Going to set up and shoot the first few lessons Sunday or early next week. Playing at the Kimmswick Cigar Box Guitar festival this weekend. That's taking priority at the moment. This is going to be a very low fi channel. Cheap camera with cheezy graphics and no video effects. As little editing as possible. Because like my thread it isn’t about me. It’s about what people can learn and enjoy doing.

I’ve joined quite a few facebook channels. With the intent to contact even more to see if I can post about my youtube channel. Once I’m up and running I plan on rotating my update info between each channel. So i don’t spam 20+ channels with the same info at the same time.

Really looking forward to getting this ball rolling. Had a total blast doing what I did on my simple thread here. And totally blown away at that thread getting well over 450 hits. Rather humbled by that. It’s my greatest hope everyone came away with ideas. Ways to add to what your doing. And above all just having more fun playing a cigar box guitar.

I’ll keep updating as things start moving. Hoping to have it all up and running between the first and second week of October.

  • Decided to reconnect with beginning guitar players. Strung up a CBG backwards. Relearning left handed.  I've played for so long I've lost touch on the struggles beginners have. And I haven't taught anyone in such a long time. Hard to reconnect there as well. The only jump I have on beginners is I already know all the right things to do. So that's what I'll start with when teaching. Admitting the stuff on the channel isn't for absolute beginners. But I find no reason I can't reach out to them as well. Plan on dedicating a portion of each video to beginners. As well as those of us who have been playing for a wile.

  • Forgot to mention. Each lesson will be music neutral . With no genre implied. Even going out of my way to make sure most of the examples are not blues oriented. Not even going to imply what genre of music any example is geared to. Letting the player decide what style the example could help with.

  • Thanks folks!

Who'da thought writing a script for a channel trailer would be this time consuming. Walked around for a good half hour with a camera recording different ideas. Then taking another two hours typing it all out into four cohesive paragraphs. Everything from what the channel is all about to tuning and what kind of cbg you need to proceed. Still have things that need to sound better when spoken. Good ol English language. Written one way. Spoken another.

Once it sounds more like I'm talking to one person and not preaching to a crowd I'll get it memorized and filmed. Get two lessons together and put the channel up.

Don't really want to sound like I'm complaining. This is a lot of fun.

  • good on ya . ;-)
