i understand they need pressure to perform correctly, though i heard of a gizmo that reduced feedback, it's to do with magnetic fields which somehow cause interference, will investigate further!

Rod piezos are REALLY touchy. They need to be very snugly buried beneath the bridge, fitted into the saddle, with NO parts exposed to air (sound vibrations). That's all I know for sure.
