I am thinking about trying a pre-wired single coil pup from Gitty.  Has anyone tried one of these?  Any suggestions?  My soldering skills are not so good, so this idea is tempting and the price seems right.

That would be a good place to start. They are great. Only way to find out is to buy and try!

I have bought several of them with no issues.

Has anyone tried Gittys 4 pole single coil yet? he says it is from a bass, looks nice and small could work for my 3 stringers if the poles are close enough together I think it would be OK, what do you think? Can't get much cheaper!

Yup. they work great....better than great.  I put one in an hoyo de monterrey box and it might be the best sounding guitar I've made!  here's a video of it.

Thanks Russel, just what I was looking for. I don't see any screws, how do they mount?
They screw into the neck.  You could probably rig something up to have it adjust from screws in the top but it doesn't come with springs or top mounting screws that I recall.  It was a little wonky on the install but the sound more than makes up for it.

How low is the action on this?  It sounds great.  Also, are you using any effects?

The action is low to medium. A litter higher than my standard acoustic. The first part of the video is clean through the amp, and the second and third are with an overdrive button on my amp. Im still learning how to play these things, but I love building and playing them.
I have purchased a few items from Gitty, though I haven't done a pup.  The service and accuracy that I've gotten from Gitty is better than a few big name dealers I could mention.  I'd trust him to do you right.
