A preamp is you best bet for taming piezo feedback.

I can't really give you a specific recommendation, since I really hate piezos (I'm a magnetic pickup kinda guy). I will say go with a model that has a 5-band EQ though, that makes it easier to turn down the frequency that's causing most of the feedback.

Pre amp is certainly the best way to cure feedback but you can try covering your piezo in leather! It`s not perfect but it works to a certain degree. 

Most people start with piezo then go on to EQ with under saddle piezo for far better sound and no feedback to speak of.

If it was me, and I am me and I`ve been through the whole thing, I would cover this one in leather and keep it and enjoy it. Then on subsequent builds ( you will build more because it`s the law!) go for EQ and then onto magnetic pickups.

You will improve your guitar builds and your woodworking skills as you go on!
