Ok so this may be a very dumb question. I won't be shy that it might be and asking anyway. So it has been said that wiring 2 piezos in parallel will take some of the harshness out of the piezo. It is also said that wiring 2 in serial will boost the volume a little. So here is my big dumb question. If you wired 2 piezos together serially and then another set serially and then you wired both sets in parallel to a volume pot and jack would that give you a less harsh but louder result? Dumb? Good idea? Thx!

  • I think Nicola Tesla tried this back in the 30's and created an unnatural earthquake. It really rocked!!

  • Ok so just an update on this. I was very wrong on there not being much difference at least against a single piezo. I just did another single for a friend of my daughter as a surprise and was very disappointed with the sound when plugged in. I went back and listened to the single I did for my youngest daughter and after listening to the 4 I realized how much better it sounds. I am going to redo both that have singles. By putting 4 in it jumps the cost to where you are not far off from some of the cheaper mags that cbgitty sells so depending on if you were in love with having piezos or not you might want to just go up to a cheaper mag. I'm not sure if the cheaper mags are good or not as I have not done one yet but will be soon so I could be wrong in that assessment...
  • Ok, so I have wired my newest CBG with 4 piezos as discussed. I can definitively say that I have no idea if it helped if not. :). I can say it sounds good and I am happy with how it sounds but cannot say it is any better for sure than the others I built already. Wayfinder I think you need to try the 3 way switch and let us know how it goes. :-P

I just don't have the confidence to do that yet. I also don't have time. I am working on a CBG for my daughter and one as a surprise for her friend as well as have to prepare 15 diddley bows for assembly with my daughters brownie troop in a week. I am doing all cutting and drilling ahead. I have bitten off a big mouthful and hopefully I don't choke on it. :)
