I've built one acoustic cbg and am starting planning for an electric.  Whilst googlizing, I came across P Bass replacement pickups.  Looks like they would be a good size for a 3 stringer, more in scale than a pick up meant for a 6 string.  Would they work for a cbg?  Anyone used them?

Thanks,  Matt

  • I used them on my CBG(pic in my avatar and on my photos). I cut the wire that linked the pups and wired them as separate singles to a 4-way switch to get position 1-B, position 2-B&N parallel, position 3-N, position 4-B&N series. Wired to a 250k volume and straight to jack. The string spacing was great(4 string). The pickups sound okay. Neck pup is dark, but not muddy. Bridge is good, but the best position is #4. The pups together read at 8 ohm resistance but are 4 ohms separate and on the weak side. I think it would have worked out better to leave them together(no switch, just volume pot) and mount them right in the middle of the sound board.

    • Thank you!  I think I'll give it a try....
