Don't know if anyone caught this, part of PBS's pledge-drive programming. Tons of good stuff on the show, and I was struck at how many of the "folk revival" groups incorporated a tenor guitar.
Pretty standard mix seemed to be a tenor, a regular guitar, and a banjo. Standup bass if they had four people.

I didn't see the program but yeah...that seemed to be a good mix (I still think it is). You get a much more full sound from the instruments being tuned in different intervals. Nobody is stepping on anyon else's sonic toes.
I saw that too Mark, and said to the wife "Hey that looks like my Stella!". It was cool to watch. However after a while the wife told me to turn it off she said "Those folk groups are freaking me out". Ah!!! a good time...yet still I did not pledge any money. Next time.
