Humidor Guitars is proud to announce a partnership with Original Flat Pup!

Humidor Guitars will now be an official supplier for the thin Flat Pup pickups, winding pickups using Elmar’s original design and specifications.  We look forward to providing folks with the same quality and sound that they have come to expect from Original Flat Pup, as well as offering reduced shipping costs for US customers.

Initially, I will only be offering 3 and 4 string Flat Pups with aluminum or brass housings. For the time being, those who want the traditional scalloped wooden frames will need to continue to buy them from http://www.original-flatpup.com/. Once I get production ramped up, I may be able to offer pickups with wooden frames.

Humidor Guitars will offer both the Original Flat Pup dual coil humbucker style pickup, and the ThinTalker slim, single coil style pickup of my own design.

Pricing for US buyers will be the same as the USD prices listed on the Original Flat Pup site:

http://www.original-flatpup.com/

Similarly, shipping will be on a per order basis, and may depend on the number of items ordered.

Please bear with us as we work out the kinks, and feel free to contact either one of us if you have any questions.

  • Hey Dan, trying to sketch out how to hook everything up. I have a flatpup, piezo, on /on switch, volume pot and jack. I THINK the positives on the pickups go to the outside lugs on the switch. The centre lug on the switch (also hot) goes to centre lug on the pot - positive lug on the jack goes to this lug too. One lug on the pot is grounded to the body of the pot, body of the switch is grounded to the same place. Both pup negatives as well as the negative rom the jack go to the 3rd pot lug.

    Does that make any sense?????

    • I sent you a PM.

  • Thanks Dan and Elmar!  I have a half dozen of the 3 pole flatpups and a couple Diddley Bugs.  Elmar's work is the best and I'm happy they are now available more locally in the USA as well.  I'm sure that will help bring on a ton more customers who are otherwise reluctant to order from Europe.

  • Yes, let's put things forward! Something about my thoughts... since the Flatpups had been very well accepted by fellow cbg builders, I'm trying to introduce them to six-string guitar builders too. I hope to raise the awareness of guitar builders or companies. A cooperation like the one with Humidor Guitars should help to spread da word.

The first Flatpup were built in February 2011, nearly 3 years ago. The immediate curiosity of fellow builders to try them out is the best example how open minded people can be. Let's see how it will be picked up by the guitar world :-)

  • Sweet!!! Flat Pups will just be an hour away from me. I have a little pile of originals now including a beefed up bridge pickup but nothing with the metal frames. Still have one of yours and a few Harrison's too. All ready for my next building phase but I may just have to visit the Flat Pup store this summer.

    • Come on down! We can have a beer and putter around my shop.

  • A good choice!...and an excellent partnership, it's made a marriage in heaven.

(Bug offers a free CBG testing to distruction service of all home made guitars, just send me ya free one..and I will do my best to play them to distruction... ;>) )
