New to CBN

New member here at CBN. I'm working on an electric 3 string for my first build. Got my inspiration from the Gibson SG. Using two mini humbuckers and wiring it with just single volume/tone controls and three position on-on-on switch neck/both/bridge. Hopefully I have done all my research to get this right if not I will be hollerin for some advice. The body is made out of aspen just because I liked the look of that particular board and didn't want to use up my gunstock blanks I have in the attic. Wanted to see what I could do before using the good wood.

  • I knew when I saw (gun stock blanks) in your post we had a craftsman on board, and your build shows it, nice job.

    • Thanks all for the kind coments. Yes jawbone you all trapped another one, already planning out an acoustic. When I get done with the holidays here I'll see what my laptop can do as far as recording some music/video.

      • That's really nice! Color stain or natural?
        • It is mostly a natural high gloss Tung Oil finish. Then I have a bottle mixed with a small touch of dark oak and crimson stain that I used to antique it a little around the edges. The fret board has no finish, just use Old English furniture polish on it.

  • Mwahahaha !!!! We have trapped another of the unsuspecting !!!!! Our plan is working !!!
Welcome J - nice job on that - looks like you're ready for the "good wood" !!!

  • Got it together and am fairly pleased with it. Now if I can figure out how to record something we will post a sound file.

    • Recforge Lite works well on a smart phone... makes .MP3 files...

    • Beautiful first build! I wouldn't worry too much about "good" wood. What you have looks great. How does it sound to you when you try it?

Oh yea. Welcome. There are some very helpful folks here and they have given me a lot of good advice.
