New to CBG's

Hey. New guy here. Been into guitars for decades, but new to the cigar box thing. Started buying parts and pieces of a certain 80's brand guitar and assembling them, or 'refurbishing' them. Stumbled upon a cigar box guitar video last week, and was instantly intrigued. I immediately set out to and build my own. Never played slide before, and am learning. Fortunately, as far as sound goes, (in my playing), thuds have quickly turned to pings, and almost discernible notes.

Here is my first build. It was quite a learning curve from what I was used to.

Here's one in the works. It's a little different.

  • Good luck to you.

I started by wanting to play violin.. Then looked into how violins work / how they're made.. Stumbled into Canjo videos and then into cigar box guitars, shovel guitars, and whatever have you...

Its addicting to build instruments. I think its worse when you start realizing how simple the build COULD be but how much more complex YOU can make it - better processes, stains, materials, etc.

  • welcome to the dark side...lol  you will find CBG to be addictive ..  see you already built 2..and very nice too. CBG doesnt have to be slide you can fret them...
