Hit on an idea today I wanted to share. I was finishing a build and was looking in my hardware drawer for something to make a bridge. Then it hit ne. I had a box of assorted wooden craft beads. I found a smooth steel rod opened up the holes in the beads to fit. Then I slid the rod through the beads and there it was. What I like is to lower it to the desired height you just sand the bottom of the beads on a strip sander. The flat spot keeps them in place. These beads are cheap and can also be used for control knobs ect. Just wanted to share. HAPPY BUILDING.

  • Very nice work! Thanks for the tip.

I have a couple of wooden balls from a couple of Guiness cans I've had for years that I had planned to do this with...

  • My wife used to do lampworking.  She made glass beads over flame.  The rods she formed them on is called a mandrel.  The rod is stainless steel.  I had planned to cut one & partially imbed it into a wooden bridge,  There may be some old, wonky beads around still.

  • Kool, way classier than a bolt with a nut, for sure! Great work Ron!!
