hey all, I have read alot of the posts about truss rods, but I haven't really found one that explains my situation and I'd kinda just like to know what some of you think. So, sorry if this is overdone. Anyhoo, I'm building a solid body 3 string electric. The neck is maple and thru the body, I'm planning on laminating a fret board to it, probably ebony,  and was just wondering if i actually need a truss rod or not?

thanks.

Nope, that should be fine.
Probably not, unless you're trying to get a hair fine action.  Then you'd want to be able to dial in neck relief and also use the truss rod to correct against minor changes in the neck over time.  But if you're doing something like a standard acoustic action then I'd say don't even bother, especially with a maple/ebony laminate.
cool, that's what I was kinda figuring, but, i just wanted someones knowledgeable advice. thanks

What they said.
