I have a couple of Lost City cigar boxes - they're really lovely, but looking at the inside it seems as though there's a false bottom or something - the bottom of the box is definitely thick, but seems hollow.

I'm considering just drilling or cutting through to check out what's going on but thought I'd poll the community to see if anyone has experience with these, and particular advice for how to deal with them?

  • Your right.. It's a tray that sits in the box.. It can be removed but be careful.. It is glued in place on 4 little posts on each corner.. The glue isn't that strong but it can come out without damaging the box.. The trays make great little holders for bits and pieces.. If you look at the pic you can see where it is glued.. And you're right they make cracking good guitars
