I've used a piezo on my first CBG, and a humbucker on my second CBG. The amplitude of both seems similar straight into my small amp, and both sound good. I prefer the humbucker tonality, though, and it doesn't pick up bumps or string squeak as the piezo does. The piezo is mounted on the neck under the bridge, and the humbucker is mounted just beyond where the frets stop at the top end of the case. As far as I can tell, it's not very critical for my builds.

A little reading, I like output & fidelity, which is something a simple piezo does not have, they also require a preamp. magnetic pickups on the other hand have loud output & lots of acoustic fidelity & don’t require a preamp? CBGITTY has plenty of affordable pickups that sound great? Flatpup style pickups are easy peasy to mount & offer a huge array of tones?…
