  • a easy song to learn with some reall good chords is Johnny Cashes version of hurt check out youtube for lessons. i think it is Am c d then G Am F C or something like that but its a no brainer on the rythem and timing so its great for learning basic chords.
  • For 6 string guitar youtube is full of guitar lessons - just go to youtube and type in the song you want to learn followed by "lesson" or "acoustic cover" and you should get some hits.
http://www.justinguitar.com/ is a free site with loads of songs in video format showing chord progression and picking styles.
I personally like powertabs - if you google powertab editor you should find a free download of it and most popular songs can be found in this format by googling.

  • depends... if you are looking to play standard 6 string, then Matt's advice is excellent. If you're looking to play 3 or 4 string slide or fretted blues then check out the groups here around How to play. People like Blues Boy Jag, Keni Lee Burgess and Shane all have great lessons available here or on youtube (and some CDs for $$$s) I've sent BluesBoyJag''s CDs with guitars to service people in Iraq and I'm sure they got a quick start on playing.

let us know how it goes.

  • Learn chords. D, A ,G,C should be the first I guess.
Learn how to finger them, strum them and change from one to another.
Then Google 3 chord songs. You'll be playing in no time. Learm more chords and look for songs chord sheets which have the chords you know.
Then start learning single notes on a single string. Look for guitar tabs.
