Hi there, just wanted to celebrate the completion of my first CBG build by posting a few photos here!

This fine instrument features a no-name P90 pickup, and was built entirely with stuff I had lying around the house - except for the neck, which I got from C.B. Gitty. It was designed to be amplified, and sounds pretty gnarly and raucous when plugged into one of my CB amps. And it doesn't sound terrible unplugged, surprisingly.

So here she is - what do you think?

  • Great first build, got a video demo of it?

My first build was ace, second and third not so much, then the fourth was ace. Been kinda up and down really. I never know how they'll end up because I don't plan them, just go with the flow.

    • I feel ya Clarky, sophomore jinx....my first was awesome ,second was a struggle so was third,I feel like I learned a lot and am more patient now on build # 4...planning is overrated...however mapping them out w a pencil and paper sho nuff don't hurt..Never thought I'd get such use out of a damn pencil.....lol

      • I sometimes doodle a headstock shape on paper but it just evolves as I make it. I just made a dandy looking neck for #22 and I went too far with the chisel and chopped right through it lol

        • The old going too far ....I killed two boxes that way....RIP...hahaha......My mind thinks ohhh that would be cool, but my skills now say"hey ,wait fool,We ain't ready fo dat yet ".

  • Man I wish my first CBG looked that good! Nice.

  • Wow, that's a great first build. My first build took about two hours, and you can tell by looking at it too. I bet you are already thinking about number 2.

  • beauty ...you are already talented ...salud

  • Nice job!

  • I like the look of the neck. My, l steal that design?

    • Thanks everyone for your comments! And Tim, steal all you want - I was just making it up as I went along :-)
