So I have a neck which is doubled for strength in such a way that the through neck divides the box in two with the only connection between the two sides being the 1/8 inch relief under the top.  Is this enough for air movement between the sides, or should I maybe drill some holes in the neck doubler?

TIA,  Matt

  • I assume you mean the neck is glued to the bottom, attached to the tail, has only 1/8" relief below the top, but relatively large air spaces on either side of the neck.

My guess is, not as much as if there were some kewl air holes, of different sizes for different frequencies, drilled through the neck.

Go ahead, drill some holes. People back in 2009 did. Or, record it first without drilling the holes, see how you like it.,then drill the holes, record that, and see if there's a difference to your ears.

    No Rulz!
    • Yes to your assumptions except I wasn't planning on gluing to bottom, but screwed to bottom.  Since I had planned on doing a build where I could take it apart, good idea as to trying it first without and adding holes later....
