  • Very tough to work or machine. Weighs a ton. Good for decks but maybe not the best for necks and such

  • Be aware that ipe sawdust is highly toxic, containing numerous allergens that increase, not decrease, your sensitivity with prolonged exposure. But it can be worked safely, by taking almost Hazmat-like precautions

  • Funny you mention Ipe. I met my wife on an organic farm in Costa Rica called Finca Ipe (Ipe Farm). Ipe is also known as Pao d'arco. It is a hard wood, and will dull your tools. But very nice when finished, and strong as an ox.
