and are going a bit further than a piezo connected to a jack, Artec have some really handy documentation on their site.

Not piezo-specific, but worth a look if you are stuck.

You can download all sorts of things here:
http://www.artecsound.com/pickups/electronics/wiringbook.html

But this one is probably the most useful as the rest deals with active electronics I think:

Not big on description, but some of the pictures are very helpful.

I hadn't come across it before, so figured somebody else might not have either..

hey man...i just started getting into this...so thanks!! i have been buying pre-soldered pickups on ebay, but i will have to do my own soon....i feel like an idiot, so this will help tremendously!!!
No worries Olds...I've bought plenty of stuff myself, but not anymore..

Nice to meet you anyway

Erik
good find!
about to try wiring up a pickup with tone and volume pots, so this should help a lot. cheers
Hi,

I have used these several times - very easy to follow. I also like the Seymour Duncan wiring diagrams
http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/
No they are excellent too...just noticed a mandolin schematic that's got me thinking..

Hey i've been going trough the link's to find out if there was an answer in them for a problem i'm having with a lapsteel i'm building right now (no cigarebox, just a lapsteel for a customer) but sadly there wasnt. I cant seem to find a wiring sheme/digram/anything about the set up i want and i'm kind of hoping someone here know's.

How do i wire a lapsteel with: 2 Singlecoil pickup's (bridge and neck) ,5 Way switch, 1 Vollume pot and 2 Tone pots (yes i killed an old beaten up Concorde strat for the gear) Not to difficult at first glance but here's the catch, they need to be wired so i can have a neck, middle (bridge+neck in parralel), neck, Humbucker (bridge+neck in series) and finaly a kill on the fifth position. If that's not enough the output needs to be wired with 2 outputs for switchable a stereo/mono option.
Hope someone can help cause this is driving me crazy, think i bit off more than i could chew.

Thanks in advance.
Frans
I like the diagrams at guitarelectronics.com http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/wiringresources/, plus you can also buy various components from them. I have used them several times and they are a reliable company.

Bluesdog, I'm not a whiz at electronics (I know just enough to be dangerous - lol), but it might be possible that you will need additional or different components to accomplish what you want to do.

You may be able to find bits of what you want to do on various diagrams, then combine them into one diagram for your use. You can always alligator clip part of your circuit, or the entire circuit together and test it before you solder it. Either it works or it doesn't.
Hey Skeesix,

Thanks for your reply, that's ok i now litte enough to be very dangerous around electricity hehehe.
Yes i thought of that too but the thing is i want to re-use what i allready have as far as switches, pots and pups go cause well.... i'm poor and cant afford extra or new part's like pushpull pots or the 5 way superswitch.

I've looked around various other diagrams (strat tele and les paul) and came up with a little diagram wich is kind of a cross between a strat diagram and the 4 way teleswitchmod so thanks for the tip!! It looks like it will work on paper, just hope it doesnt fry my pups :P

pickup and wires switch position

Bridge p/u ---------------1 _ Bridge
> bridge-neck parralel
Neck p/u -----------------2 _ Neck
> bridge-neck series (humbucking)
bridge p/u wire2--------- 3 _kill

0
vollume pot 500k---------| Vollume minus is wired to pickup lug3 so when the switch is in 5th it becomes a momentairy killswitch
0

Tonepot 250k -----------1 Bridge p/u

Tone pot 250 -------------2 Neck p/u

tone in series (neckpot)-3

All - minuswires go onto the back of the vollumepot for ground.

Edit:the diagram didnt came out like i typed it in the replywindow >:( d*amnit! Evrything with a > in front of it should be on the right side of the 1,2,3 markers. Than it will make sence (i hope)
All i need to figure out how to make the loop from the bridge to the serieslug with the hotwires and a simular loop so the neckpot becomes a master tone in the series position and i cant clip it together for testing!!!
Thanks!!!!!!
Thanks Erik.
They could come in very useful.
Blimey - I'll have to draw that out.. You don't do things by halves though, I'll give you that ;o)

Hit a bit of a big hitch with my new cbg. the magnetic pickup
seems wired up correctly but no output from the pickup
unless i touch the jack with a finger. Some grounding issue perhaps? My small resevrvior of knowledge of electrics has definitley run dry.
