Thanks for the reply, the neck is made for Tulip (poplar), the fret board will be Sapele.  Since the original post, I have dropped the hubcap below the fretboard . I will look at relocating the bridge.

Decided to split the caps and make t guitars,now has a  ply infill on the back.

I like it. It looks good. The height is more dependent on whether or not it is supposed to be fret playable or slide only. 

If its acoustic, you'll probably want some sort of sound hole to give it volume.

This is how I accommodated the dome on Hub cap.The heel has two long screws below the fingerboard to strengthen that short grain and joint

I think when I find some suitable chrome eyelets I'll put a sound hole in the side wall of the box,seemed to work well on a couple of license plate guitars where I didn't want to drill the plate

Thanks for the reply, I think I have resolved it. Your hubcap looks a lot nicer than mine. I had not thought of adding a box on the back, I like the idea, but think I will try without at first.
