I've been a member for 5 days... i am being overwhelmed with e-mails from CBN--- IN SPITE OF having clicked on all the supposedly requisite buttons to the contrary. i've enjoyed learningfrom this group since October as a non-member. now, i feel like a tagged domestic sheep..... why is that ????.... it is the antithesis of revolutionary... it is like being caught in a tuna net. I'm not anyone important, i have yet to 'contribute', so it is not as i will be missed... but if this is happening to any or all of you, how can you stand it ???? ....zandi z.

Another thing you can do is to send any unwanted emails to the bit-bucket. That's 'Computerese' for trash. I have made a filter to sort out my incoming mails into CBG and non-CBG related emails. But then again, I have quite a few filters, so.

  • LL... betcha you can't buy just one...:0D.
once you have even one of those in your house, the magic begins, girl.
Have you ever noticed that almost ANYONE you ask has a pebble or pretty stone or shell in their pockets, or purses, or whatever....???
i have been totally surprised at how many people i know have, or have had, at least one special cigar box !!!
those are some interesting be-ings, cigar boxes.
I'm at the point where i want to sell a lot of my rat-pack collections of other junk-tiques in a garage sale to have more money to buy cigar boxes ---except those things i could incorporate into a build, that is.
it is a fine madness, this...zandi.

Thanks, LL...guess i'm going to have to bite the bullet and do that...totally absurd, i say, but, then....
you young folks probably don't remember telephone 'party lines'... and, i'm too old to want to be '7 of 9'.

Anyway...that CBG is a REDDOG Delta Blues Harp made by John McNair...what a sound !!!! it makes even me sound like i can play the delta blues.(well, sorta) his '3-string..' tune wrapped itself around me, and, here i am.

The BIG city around here is Amarillo (we're just on the NW Texas border) need to visit there and get something besides pine for my necks, so i have no pictures of my own builds to show just yet, but will have something besides 1-stringers soon, i hope.
NM is beautiful in an awe inspiring minimalist way... and that Wind, Mariah, sings days on end...thought i'd join her.

    Happy Holidaysto you and All.....zandi.z.

Hi Zandi--I get quite a few but feel like I won't miss anything that way,...I sure don't have time to track them all, and feel lucky if I keep up even in a small way, preferring one on one mails, to which I try and respond when possible. I have youtube mails as well as ebay, facebook, myspace so my inbox is always zoolike;-) A good thing to do,--(someone perhaps already suggested) is to set up a dedicated web mail just for CBG mails...like hotmail or gmail, yahoo , etc. Then they are all "corraled" in one place that way OR perhaps the buttons worked, and your inbox is less burgeoning, this day. Holiday Greets to you as well,-I came back to see your updates, and happy to see your page anew. NM looks gorgeous. your builds are awesome!
    Sincerely, Laurie

  • Well, Sam, i squeeked with glee too soon... i got a letter re: your last comment and 'transducer hanky roll' which i read but did not comment on-and, yes, i made sure all the correct buttons were clicked.

i'm not bashed or bagged, but it is quite clear that like it or not, if i sign in, i AM TAGGED.

As an aging hippie, the constant reminder of that, goes against the grain on soooooo many levels...zandi z.

Sam... you are right...this group is about jammin' not bashin.
i apologize for putting it so harshly .
That statement was born out of my own frustrated feelings.... like i'm an an old coot who is not up to speed with all these lightning fast intercommunications.
i'm usually very good at following instructions and understanding things..
in fact, i calculate all my own fret positions myself, for whatever scale length i choose--- and they work, so i know i'm not a totally dim bulb....
this was really bugging me tho, because i was 'not getting it'.... and i am not used to NOT understanding instructions...
and no matter what i did, nothing was correcting the problem.

i think you are right about the 'delay' thing, because as of right now i'm not getting any e-mails from here in that mailbox ... i'm not sure what fixed it.... i'm just glad it seems to be now working the way i would like it to.

I am addicted to cigar boxes, cbinstrument making, and learning from you all.... i check this site morning, noon and night... have been doing that for months now...
    thank you for your response,Sam....zandi.

    Zandi,

For some reason, it sometimes takes several hours for the changes to be effective.... Don't know why, but that's the way it is..... As far as "Is this a new form of granny-bashing?"... I seriously doubt it. There's no upside for anyone to bash, bag or tag a granny..... lol ;-) ...

Hope it works out for you.

There should only be one button you have to click to not receive e-mails from this site. Go to settings/e-mail and scroll to the bottom where it says "I do not i wish to receive e-mails from Cigarboxnation". If you click Apply all should be good.

  • Wes, you all have been very kind, pointing out the things i could do, and i am very grateful.
What was frustrating to me was that i was already being very diligent about doing all those things and yet i was still getting 'sticky gum on my shoes'.
I took everyone's suggestions to heart and applied them...several times over.
i'm keeping my fingers crossed, because i have not gotten any e-mails from CBN in the past 4 hours, so something did the trick !!!!... i thank you all for your advice.
the numbers of e-mails started out at about a dozen and tapered out to about 6 per day (after i learned about how to stop some of them)... not much, i agree, for some of you, but i HAD clicked on 'no e-mails' and 'stop following' and had an expectation of getting none.
thank you again, for addressing my concerns.
you are a totally inspirational group... whether i 'sign in' or not, know i am a BIG fan, and that i am cheering you on from the sidelines....zandi z.

    Wes Yates said:
So how many are you getting per day? You say you're being overwhelmed, but nothing about the amount. A few email should be acceptable. 50 -- no. 20 -- no. ~10 is not unusual depending on what you respond to. By the way, once you respond to something you are "following" that conversation. You can opt out of following and that does work. If you join a group, you are again following that group. If you comment on a picture, you are also following.

Remember to "Stop Following" when you reply to something. Try it and see if that works.

    it is unacceptable to me
