Yep, yep, yep, the vinegar and steelwool mix does work great. I just made a butt piece out of ebony except the piece was a lot lighter than the rest of the ebony I've been using. So I decided to try the V/S mix I had sitting in a jar. It did it's magic!

Paul, did you use a finish on it after the steel wool?

Yes, Ben it has a coat of clear lacquer when the picture was taken.

Paul, It looks much better than all of the "Ebonized" tail pieces all of my violin students have. Cool!
