Hey Guys I am interested in starting to do some home recording I have a Mac Book Pro with Garage Band 08... Does anyone have any tips on using this software? I was at Sam Ash the other day and the sales guy suggested I move up to Pro-tools. Any thoughts on that program. Thanks - Jim

I have used Cakewalk, Audigy, Reaper, with everything from a little Radio Shack clip mic (grat microphone honestly for instrument amplifiation, any instrument) to a SM58 microphone.

Currently I am using a Roland VS890 (old digital 8 track) and I'm loving it. Got it for dirt cheap, and I don't have to stare at a PC screen all day to do what I want.

To those getting started, I'd reccomend audigy, or if you want to do multitracking, check out reaper…
