Hi, I'm in the middle of my first build, using an old English Leather mahogany box with an oak fretboard.

The box opens in the middle so I have had to make some adjustments along the way. The box is about 1/4" thick so I'm a little worried about sound. I was thinking about using 2 piezos with one being "on' with a volume pot and an extra through a switch. Do you think this would give me more boost? Or is it a waste of a piezo and switch. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

  •  Thanks for the input guys, I wired in one last night works,, ok. the pot I bought from CB Gitty is a bit noisy, I'm  wondering if I grounded it right or if it's just because it's a cheap pot. When I fix up my guitars I usually use DiMarzio parts and have never had any issues very quiet, but they are more $. Well Its all a learning experience I'll keep messing with it, Its a lot more fun than I thought it would be, thinkin about my next one already.

  • I wouldn't use a switch, I'd just use the 2 piezos. Search the site for wiring diagrams. Some like parallel, some like in line.

  •  I now use 2 piezo's in parallel. I also use the larger 40mm diameter piezo. My builds definitely sound louder and better without a volume / tone pot. I must admit to limited experience (6 builds)

  • Every box is different. If you have the resources, try it out. You could wire up two different harnesses and try em both out. The selector switch would be the difficult part. Mount it in a place you could put a sound hole or emblem of some kind later on if you do something different? I've mounted piezo s with and without vol pot's and I like em without better. Probably more of a design preference for me than anything though.
