<p>Thanks for that Joe, I have seen several variations on that very idea and it is similar to one I was experimenting with. Still havent finished anything.</p>
<p>I like the tidy result and use of "found" materials though! I hadnt found any wing nuts in that thread, it might just be fine enough to work out well. I am a little concerned about the possibility of galling in the thrust area under the screw with guitar strings. (Not likely a problem on his uke project.) Perhaps and end plate of a…</p>

Perhaps and end plate of a different material would be better. I also think I would prefer allen heads over his slotted screws. Finally, with some experimenting I bet the assembly could be shortened up a little more to make it as compact as possible. Just some thoughts......</p>

The two biggest challenges I face at this point is the thought that VERY fine adjustment threads are desireable, and that I need to determine the range of adjustement needed. These questions may require an experiment or two!
