So I wanted to try out a CBG but really felt intimidated about building one (that has since changed!) So, I built a partscaster from stuff I had lying around, but you could use any cheap electric guitar, first remove the strings, then the Bottom E, the d and the top e tuners (I filled the redundant holes with Allen bolts) then remove the corresponding bridge saddles so they don't rattle. Bag up the removed parts in case you want to return the guitar to normal in the future...... I restring with a bottom E in the old a position, an a string where the d string was and the thickest plain string where the b string was. Tune to the tuning of your choice, I generally use E,b,e as it keeps barre chords the same a standard guitar. String spacing stay the same as you are used to albeit with gaps! A bit of reverb and drive on your amp and go for it! The Comicaster was heavily relicked and the decorated with Huge self made waterslide decals with mini comic covers..... Photos!

    • Superb! Loving the first sculpted guitar, whats the story with the pickups? Are they available or custom made?

      Paul

      • that  guitar  is  modeled  after  the  teisco spectrum 5   with  its  6   triple  square pole   pickups  .,  the   pickups  on  that  guitar  are   exact   modern  repoductions  of  them  .  i  dont   really  want to  reveal  my  source   ,,  they  were hard  enough to  find    for  the  last  30  yrs  .   lol.
