Just picked this up as a garage sale.  Model 1448 guitar and amp case... guitar almost virgin with just a few stains.  Case has a couple of nicks, a cigarette burn and a hinge to be repaired.  Amp powers up, but just hums.....

So, what's it work and is it worth taking to someone to fix the amp?  Oh, btw, I get it for $ 15.

Me too.  I'm new to Springfield and am asking around to find a tech that isn't heavy handed with vintage amps.  As soon as fixed, I'll post a vid.

Sam,

If you are in Springfield MO (yes, I see you are), I took the liberty, and found these listings, see if they square with what you are hearing on the grapevine:

http://www.yellowpages.com/springfield-mo/amplifier-repair?g=Spring...

This one looks especially interesting as opposed to the local GCs:

http://www.gbase.com/stores/hand-picked-guitars

I know the guy at hand picked guitars.... really good, can't be rushed...but unfortunately he's in the middle of selling out and moving (it think to Florida).  If anyone has a spare $500M laying around, I could probably buy the business and a good amount of stock before his walls empty.  I'd hate to ask him to start something in the middle of his situation.  Most of the rest of the shops farm their repair stuff out.  I'd rather deal with the tech directly...

Gotcha. Bummer, t,bought I'd found ya a good un. Guess you'll hafta talk through the local pickers network, or ship it over to Chicago or Nashville, maybe? Hmm. What about St. Louis, Kansas City, Tulsa or Memphis; maybe these guys in Overland?: http://www.service.lselectronics.net

Or ask the guy at hand picked who his amp techs are, see if you can go direct with em?

I'm going to talk with the guy at hand picked to see where he sent his repair work when he got to busy to do it himself.  should find a good tech that way.  really don't want to ship it out of town.  too many bad things can happen.  Even insured, I'd hate to lose it or get it trashed.

Yeppers. BTW, still playing and writing on #268. Had to replace the nut with a screw, when the highest string split right down through the nut, and I didn't have any bone or plastic around. Works good with it. Also removed the bar bridge to lower the action. There's a tad neck bow, but I now use it for fingering plus slide, so it actually works great for me. That Lace pup really sings thru my Crate V16.

Sorry to hijack for a moment. But Ron are you from Freeport/Lake Jackson Tx. area? Your name isn't real common. Sorry for the interruption.

Sam that's a killer find. I was happy about my $5 BC amp. But you get the trophy for "Deal of the Week" LOL

friggin  sweet  score  for  that  price  ..  these things     usually    go   for  $400  to  700 ish  depending  on condition  .

There's just enough "patina" on the case to prove it's age, but the guitar is in amazing shape.  It has generic control knobs and on tuner post doesn't match the set.  otherwise it is original and pure....

case shape  is as  expected    and don't  matter  much  unless its trashed  ..    get that amp   goin and  i'd say you  got a   700    to  799 $   setup.

you  could post  it  in my  vintage   group http://www.cigarboxnation.com/group/teisco-lovers-group

maybe even  get    repair tips  there  .  or  offers

Thanks anonymous, the case needs one hinge reattached, has acouple nicks and one cigarette burn, but otherwise solid. I'll get it done and then see if I can let go of it.

That's the Bee's Knee's right there Sam, Awesome!

I do love G-Sales!!! Hitting some today and tomorrow :-)
