Has anyone tried this pick up, if so what are your thoughts about them?

Huh.   Never seen one like it Stewy.  What is it and where did you get it.   I like the sound of pickups mounted up from the box.   This might be okay to good.   Be sure to put it on the guitar neck and not your own neck.

I found this at Bezdez's site on Ebay...apparently it fits on to the finger board, no cutting involved John. I'm thinking of mounting one on my Puppy dog reso. Really the only difference I see from a mini hummbucker is the mounting brackets, so it should work. Just wanted to see if anyone else had any experience with this model.

Looks like you will have to cut a shallow compartment into the neck.  I've done that with regular pickups.   Stewy, please let me know how it works out.   I am interested.

Tt mounts to the end of the fret board, I`m thinking of using one on the Snake build, I`m just going to epoxy it on.

I've seen a few guys use these by cutting the mounting arms off and fixing it to the sound board like Randy suggests.  I don't remember seeing any video of this so I'm not sure how it sounds.  Seems like this came up a year or two ago when the discussion of flat pickups started to get hot.

pickups like this is usually made for archtop style guitars. thats why you would want to mount to the neck

I used one to upgrade a cheap arch top guitar.

There are some more photos from this old thread

http://www.cigarboxnation.com/forum/topics/anybody-try-one-of-these...

and the ebay link is here for dimensions http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Artec-neck-alnico-closed-jazz-guitar-Pick...

It sounds like all the other pickups in this price range.

When fitting it you have to drill a hole underneath for the pickup wire and if you get it wrong the wire stops the pickup sitting evenly.  Also I was lucky and it fitted the end of the fret board exactly so I didn't have to try and bend the arms of the bracket smaller which I think may have proved difficult.

The archtop was a real cheapie and the crack in the finish by the neck was already there and not caused by fitting the pickup.

Thanks folks, for your replies.
