I have a few Artero Fuente  boxes that have the pressed paper lids. I was wondering about using the bottom of the box for the sound board.  Being wood I'm thinking a richer tone woud be produced. Blind cutting the box for the neck might be challenging, but doable. I could also glue the lid in place to support the box and then cut free the bottom free so facilitate the build. Has anyone has flipped the box and used the bottom as the sound board?

Cut the paper edge band with a razor blade. Slipped a razor knife in between the sides and the bottom. Located the staples and cut them free with a hacksaw blade. Glued and clamped the lid on and the box has been officially flipped.

Many have, it’s well known that the bottom of the box is thinner than the top? This gives you more vibratory response like other acoustic instruments?

I flip most of mine because of non-wood tops and because I like being able to open the back to access the electronics when needed.

I am sure many a CBG have been built using the bottom as the top.

Here's one; a Padron box with the corners rounded & flipped to utilize the plain bottom.
