First Build

Hello. I'm Warren from New Hampshire and I built my first CBG last week, totally on a whim and now I'm hooked. I had no idea what I was doing or even how to play the thing but it all turned out well. It took about three hours total, I rushed it and I made lot's of mistakes but I learned much. Now I think I'm going to attempt to build one in earnest so I'll be back to pick your brains. Debating whether to build another three string or go for four.

  • Welcome and nice job. It does hook you doesn't it?
  • Hey Warren,

Nice looking and sounding first build. Sounds like you're finding the notes OK.

    Welcome to you new addiction.

  • I don't know I'll have to buy more tuning machines to go four strings we'll see. Yeah I went a little nuts with the holes. This is just a prototype guitar for me, something to experiment with and learn with, so anything goes with this one. Yes it is surprising loud, the box itself is very resonant I need to find more like it. Here's a sound file. (I am not a player and I recorded this five minutes after I figured out how to tune it but you'll get an idea how it sounds)

  • Great looking first build man! Is it loud with the four big soundholes? I usually only use one big hole or several little ones. Keep up the nice work!
